Finding a friend that was long gone

There's a saying in finnish, "Tuttavat tulevat ja menevät, ystävät pysyvät ikuisesti". Freely translated as "people you know come and go, but friends stay forever". I've been thinking that saying a lot lately, basicly through music (as I allways do). Been scrobling my music library and found a lot of songs that I didn't remember at all, until I heard the few first beats. And then it comes, memories about the good and the bad times related to that song, album or even to that artist. For example, hearing any song from Junkie XL:s 3pm album reminds me about Ian M. Banks book "The player of games", basicly because I bought the book and the album about the same time and I listened the CD while reading the book on bus. The same thing is with Pink Floyd's album "Division Bell" and Sid Meier's game Colonization. And the relation is quite simple, got the album as a christmas present just about the same time I got the game from a friend of mine.

To these two albums mentioned, all the memories are positive ones. There is also a lot of those negative ones. I friend of mine asked a while ago that why I have so much Juice Leskinen on my computer, but she hasn't newer heard me listening that. Answer was quite simple one. When I hear certain songs from Juice, I remember another friend of mine, who has let me down many times. Actually, almost every time we have worked together in some project. Last time I listened to Juice, I got pretty angry to everybody around me, basicly because of the memories I got from what I listened. So, it may be best if I just don't listen to Juice. The sad thing here is that I like Juice a lot.

At the same time when I'm finding those songs that were long gone, I'm longing to see a lot of friends, that I just haven't seen in a long long time. And by long time I mean over a couple of years. There is just one paradox at the moment: I don't have time to see even those friends that I normally see at least monthly. Yesterday I noticed that I haven't been in our local scout groups meeting place in four weeks.

Well, maybe I just need to take a hang of myself and start to prioritize my time a bit more.

As a sidenote, today's long lost friend in music was "Paul Oakenfold & Christopher Young - Swordfish Soundtrack".
